Internal schedules at Microsoft as recently as last November called for the Xbox 2 to be launched in time for Christmas 2004, sources close to the company have revealed - and the firm is still thought to be considering a launch by mid-2005.
Sources at a number of key Xbox developers, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have confirmed that when the company originally revealed the outline specification for Xbox 2 late last year, the company surprised its partners by suggesting that the new hardware would be in shops for Christmas 2004.

I think Microsoft are really rushing thing's. There current consoles fine.
Over in japan, there still releasing games for the dreamcast for heavens sake. And those game's look up to standards with some PS2 grahpics or better(Small bit of exaggeration may be involved in that statment, lmao; but not much). Because companys work on a console so long there able to max it to the level.. And really make it shine. Xbox is like a star that shown brightly for a few seconds.. and then gets smashed out.
Really.. they should have more faith in the current console, work with it longer. And just get game companys to put more effort into there games. After all, a console doesnt attract me. It's the game's on that console. So if xbox has more good games.. no forget good. More Great games! come out on it. I would switch over to it for those games... Right, I seemed to of rambled on. And also just so anyone doesnt bother me.. yeah I own an xbox, have for quite sometime. I was just trying to make a point out of my sensless ramblings.

Few of my local friends asked me which system I thought was better and I said Xbox everytime, because I haven't used my PS2 in a oh so long time, but they just did some simple research on the games and they chose the quantity of games over the quality of graphics , all 3 of them *shrug* so this might be a good idea for Microsoft as it would give them a head start on the game race this time...
buut..If they do release a new console before 2006, I really doubt that I would jump right into it, I'm still having a blast with the Xbox and eagerly awaiting Halo 2,,,which means I could prolly pay $50 for it and be happy for a long time instead of buying a new system. Thats just my 2 cents worth though.
I definatly think they would be better off to wait though, at least try to release a system close to when Sony makes it move, really make the competition interesting

Microsoft, should do like Sony. Re-release the xbox. But just in a smaller form or something. I know so many people have complained about the size and weight.. But that was a few year's ago. And technology like HD and everything has advanced quite a bit further. And have gotten smaller.
I am just waiting for my xbox to kick the bucket right now. It act's alright sometimes. But then other time's acts weird and gives me quite a few errors.
But anyways, I am just saying. A smaller re-vamped xbox design would probably sell quite well. And they could probably sell it just like the current xboxs price is. Pretty cheap. Me and my great ideas. lmao.

You guys do make a good point on the release though, MS prolly will be shooting itself inthe foot if they release this early...but,,,will they realize this? *probably not...* if I were MS, I'd push the Xbox hard right now, especially with HALO 2 on the horizion, then wait another year, get Bungie started on making halo 3 for Xbox 2, and work it out from there ..but thats just my opinion.
