I am trying to connect my two XBoxes via a wireless ADSL router. One of the XBoxes is connected directly to the router via cable, the other is connected via cable to my Windows XP Pro machine, which is wirelessly connected to the router. Both of the XBoxes can connect to XBox Live with no problems, however I can not get them to connect via LAN System Link.
With the XP Pro machine, I have tried making the ethernet adpater have one subnet and the wireless adapter have another with internet sharing. This does not allow LAN System Link to work. I have tried bridging the two adapters via Windows XPs Bridging tool. This allows me to see the games but I can not connect to them. With both set ups XBox Live works with no problems.
I have tried routes on both the Windows XP machine and the wireless router, I have even tried to add port routing on the router.
I am running out of ideas to try and would appreciate some more.
Thanks xCalibur. | |

Thanks xCalibur. | Is the Cable a Crossover?
Because if it is, you should be able to use it to link the two Xboxes directly, if my knowledge and memory serves me correctly...

However with the xboxes not within an area that is appropriate to be running lots of cable, I am trying to get it to run through my XP Pro's wireless setup. Thanks for the reply though.

I'm not actually sure that you can do that...
Where's Agent Smith? He should know this kind of thing...

With MY lack of routing knowledge I am kind of stuck. Thanks for your efforts though.

For an Xbox LAN, your set up should go: Xbox >>>> Router <<<<< Xbox I don't see why you should need to involve your PC, unless you have run out of free ports on the router. You might be able to do it with a wirelss adapter for your second console, but that's beyond my range of knowlege as I'm still living in the year 2000 with wires all over the place!

By the way, Smith, what don't you know...

I don't understand why it well not work as xbox live works through it, as well as when I bridge the wired lan card (connected to xbox) with the wireless nic I can see each of the games but can not connect to them. This is way I am suspecious of the routing in windows XP Pro (lack there of) as being the problem.
