It doesn't work when I have a disc, or no disc in the console. Doesn't even show the Xbox logo. I can't eject my drive without using the manual eject. All I see is black on my TV. The Xbox lights are on, and I can hear it.
Also, there's nothing wrong with my TV and/or connections. I've tried it with the other type of video adaptor (R/F I think), I've tried with another TV. And when I disconnect the video cables, I see the Xbox light flashing orange (which is supposed to mean there's no video connection I think).
This has been going on for about 6-7 months (can't remember exactly, I know it stopped working before summer), so I'm not mad at all now. I also play computer games, so losing my Xbox wasn't that bad, which explains why I haven't made any attempts to fix it/get it fixed. The reason I'm asking about it now, is that Halo 2 just came out.
I've had my Xbox since the Christmas which was a month after Halo came out. (Xmas of 2000? I forget now)
BTW, according to this picture ( http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...on_samsung.jpg) I have a Thompson drive, which I haven't heard very many good things about.
I haven't opened my Xbox because I don't want to mess up my chance of getting it fixed by professionals.
Lastly, how should I go about getting it fixed? I saw the thread about buying a warranty, then reporting the problem, but I didn't really understand it. And will I have a chance to keep my saved games? I doubt it has anything to do with the hard drive, so I'm hoping it will. And like I said, I can't transfer any of my HD data to memory cards because my Xbox won't even load without a game disc. If they have to get rid of my saved data, then there's no point in even getting my Xbox fixed IMO.
Thanks | |

If you call to buy an extended warranty because your Xbox has started acting up, just don't tell them that there is anything wrong with it; you're just buying a warranty. Then wait a few days or a week (you've waited almost six months so what's another week) and call back saying you're having problems. M$ sends you the box to ship it back in and depending on what's wrong with it, it'll take a week to get back to you. I know because I had to send my previous Xbox in twice, and both times I got it back in exactly six days.

But the problem is, a while ago (within a month of when my Xbox broke), my mom called and told them it was broken. I'm not sure how much information she gave them, but she told me she got a ticket for it to be fixed (or something like that), so I'm thinking she must have gave them some information. Anyway, is there still a chance I can do this, even if my mom called them?

BTW, in response to your question about saved games, I would back them up.... the fact that it isn't loading the dash probably means that MS will try to bring the hard drive to a 'factory ship' status, therefor you would lose the save files.

And Xbox, he said he can't back anything up because he can't get visuals at all on his TV screen. So he obviously can't navigate a blacked out television
.user., pretty much what Xbox already said. If your mom gave any tech. info like the serial number you're pretty much SOL. I'd just say **** it and go out and get refurbished Xbox and then put a warranty on that. You might luck out and get a Philips or Samsung drive this way. I know when I sent my Xbox in the two times it came back TWICE with the same Thompson ROM which really pissed me off because then I couldn't tell if they actually replaced the ROM or just ****ed around with it until it worked again
