Xbox Problem...very odd..

I have an unexplainable problem with my Xbox. Recently I was playing UC and during the game..the sound cutout, or at least I thought...then I realized it was actually on but was at an extremely low volume. So I figured...maybe its the TV..switched TV's...same thing. The sound is fading in and out in like 5 minute intervals. So I checked the cables...nothing looks wrong with them and they seem to work fine with other games. So today, I was playing D&D heroes..and I had a similar sound problem..the background music was on consistantly, but the sound effects of swords clashing and coins jingling was fading in and out. Anyone ever have this problem or have any idea whats up with my Xbox?

That IS strange. I haven't heard that one before. How do you connect your Xbox to your TV? (RF, S-video or RCA)

You may wanna try resetting your sound options in the dasboard (It could help) and consider getting the extended warranty. Good Luck!

I connect using RCA. But yesterday I took my Xbox over a friends and hooked it up via RF and I still got the same problems. I used an air compressor to blow some of the dust out, I've had this thing since the day it came out...maybe it wants to retire :P Hmm..how do you open an Xbox up? Maybe if I open it up I can clean it a bit better or see if somethings burnt out...

I wouldn't suggest that, that'll void your warranty. I'd call 1-800-4MY-XBOX and see if they have the answer, or get an extended warranty from them and make tham fix it (you can only get the warranty if your Xbox is in working condition ).

Re: Xbox Problem...very odd..

Well the Xbox is in working condition..and the warranty thing I could really care less about. I've had the thing for over 3 years now. It'd probably be cheaper to buy a new one instead of "Fixing" this one. I think I am going to open it up once I figure out how. It's got to be something like bad soldering or something on a wire I think.

...on second thought..maybe I won't open it. I don't own the proper tools :/

Re: Xbox Problem...very odd..

Actually if you get the warranty for $50 they will fix it for free.

How old can your Xbox be to get the warranty? How long is the warranty good for? ....AND how much is shipping for Xbox -- doubt they'll want to foot the bill for that! hehe.

I think your Xbox can be any age as long as it is in good working condition (so I wouldn't bring up the sound problem before you have the warranty ), the warranty lasts for one year, and I think shipping is free.
