Bought Linksys wireless-b game adapter, but Xbox doesn't recognize it...

when I hook it up to the Xbox. I went to the Xbox dashboard, went into network settings, went to advanced and clicked on wireless. The cd icon would come up for a few seconds before giving me the error message that there is no wireless adapter hooked up to the xbox. I see the light attached to the linksys wirelss-b game adapter, and it seems to recognize it's connected to the xbox, but the xbox doesn't recognize it.

This is the second time this happened. The first time, I was using a Linksys WET11 wireless-b ethernet bridge, and I configured it properly to communicate with my router. I hooked it up to the xbox and I would get the same error message. I called the tech supports for Linksys and Xbox, and neither one could help me.

Any ideas on what's wrong? I just exchanged the wireless-b ethernet bridge for the wireless-b game adapter from Linksys, but I'm getting the same errors.

I don't know much about this adapter but as far as I wknow you set it up through the computer...

I did that with the Linksys Bridge, and it was set up to communicate with my router. The problem was the Xbox still wouldn't recognize my Linksys bridge. So I exchanged it for the game adapter, and I tried to see if the Xbox would detect my Linksys game adapter. Same deal, it doesn't detect it. The problem I think is at the Xbox and game adapter at the hardware level, not the router communication itself. Even if the bridge or game adapter weren't communicating with the router, at the very least, the Xbox should be able to detect that it is connected to a wireless adapter, but it fails to do that in the network settings, under wireless in the Xbox dashboard.

I believe the Linksys bridge is actually not recognized by the wireless config on the dashboard because it's not MS. It would be considered just a "cable" connection but in reality is wireless... if that makes sense...

Thanks for the help. I fixed the problem last night. Turns out that I had to use the channel button on the game adapter and set it to profile 1 instead of channel 6. It connected to Xbox Live then.

The Linksys bridge wasn't connecting to my Xbox Live even when properly configured, but the game adapter finally did. Anyway, thanks for all the help.
