Problems with your Xbox? Before you call...

Is the light flashing like a Christmas tree? Are you experiencing DDE's? Are you under warranty? Take these tips from The Elder G!

BEFORE YOU CALL TECH SUPPORT

The first thing ya' wanna do is check out the FAQ... http://www.xboxfaq.com/ No help there???

Okay, your xbox has crapped out. You want to call Microsoft and find out what to do. BOOM! You've already ruined your chance to purchase an extended warranty. You can purchase the warranty, regardless of when you initially bought your Xbox, if you meet the following criteria...

1) You HAVE NOT called Microsoft previously regarding problems with your Xbox.
2) You HAVE NOT opened/altered/modded your xbox console.
3) You live in the United States.

HOW MUCH IS THIS GONNA COST ME?

Well, if you don't have coverage under the warranty, it's gonna cost you at least $100.00 (U.S.) plus. {You may be able to bargain them down to $50.00 or so.} However, if you're under warranty, there is no charge after the initial payment for the warranty.

1 year $29.95
2 years $59.90
3 years $89.95
{Prices subject to change at Microsoft's discretion}

Okay Okay Warranty Boy, how do I get this magical protection for my Xbox?

It's so easy, just call 1-800-4my-xbox (1-800-469-9269) and tell them that you want to buy an extended warranty. Again, you CANNOT tell them of any problem that your Xbox is experiencing. They will ask you for your name, address, phone number, etc. You will need the date you purchased your Xbox, the serial number and
a VALID credit card. Don't have a credit card, no problem. Check out this link... http://www.xbox.com/assets/en-us/sup...ntyInvoice.pdf Send a check/money Order, along with the above info to...

XBOX SERVICE CONTRACT DEPARTMENT
Microsoft Corporation
One Microsoft Way
Redmond, Washington
98052-9953

Wait until you get your contract in hand before you call for repair service! The turnaround time from the day your xbox is picked up until it's returned to you, is usually seven days. In fact, the longest wait will probably be for the shipping box to arrive from Airborne Express/DHL (The company that ships your xbox to & from the repair center)

Note: The majority of problems that people have experienced are with a faulty/damaged dvd assembly. If this is the case, you PROBABLY will NOT lose your game saves/soundtracks. If you have any other problems with your Xbox console or, if your Xbox console has been in for repair two or more times previously, you most likely WILL lose the contents of your harddrive, as Microsoft will replace at least the harddrive & lens assembly, if not the whole xbox.

So, if they reduce the price of the xbox to $150 and a you pay for a $100 dollar waranty does that mean 2 of every 3 xbox's will crap out. Wait the price to make one's much less, is the price of the waranty more than the price to manufacture one?

ok, lets say 90 dollars for 3 years then, the xbox currently is $180 that would still be 1/2 of all xbox's die in three years. Did they set the price before they knew they were installing a thomson drive??

I double checked my invoice, it is $59.90 for two years. I think that page is outdated...

Maybe that links is for the first 2 years only... weird though, I called them the other day to ask about it and he didn't mention the new price.

I didn't know we got invoices to extend the extended warranty.. How far in advance did you get it??? My ext. warranty expires in August.
