| A Unique XBL problem?!? Hey there people, I’m new here, second post only ;-)
My problem is this: I have been trying to play XBL with a friend of mine who lives several miles away; we both have the same Motorola cable modem, we both have Optimum online, and we both have the same Linksys Router model number WRT54GS (he doesnt have the "S" for speedbooster at the end, but it doesn’t matter since we aren’t using wireless anyway)
Unfortunately when he or I try to join each others game, a message pops up saying something like the "game cannot connect because there is a problem with the network, sorry about that."
However, once I tried disconnecting the router and plugging the xbox directly into the modem; the game worked perfectly. So the problem definitely has something to do with my router.
I at least know it has nothing to do with DNS servers, I already have my xbox portforwarded (i opened all ports), I even tried altering the last three numbers of my local IP address, the subnet mask, the starting IP address given by the DHCP server, his and mine have the last three numbers starting at 110, I changed mine to 120, but still no luck.
I believe the problem is being caused because there is some setting in both our routers that are set exactly the same and is causing a conflict, however I changed all of those things previously mentioned, unless there is some other thing I missed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Chris-
P.S., we both have the latest firmware for both of our routers.
