really bad xbox live lag

I have had xbox live for about three months now and within the last week I have started to get a really bad lag while playing Call of Duty 4. I have a perfect connection on my computer to the internet. The modem is in another room on another computer. A wireless router is connected to the modem and my computer is very new so it has a wifi reciever type thing inside of the tower like laptops do. I have an ethernet cable connecting my xbox to my computer. I have tried manually setting up an IP address for my xbox, unplugging the router and plugging it back in, and restarting my computer. I can play Call of Duty 4 and I am connected, but I have a serious lag. Every once in a while I will once again have a good connection and then after about an hour or less the connection will go back down to one bar. Can somebody please help me? This is really starting to annoy me.

I think its the COD4 servers or xbox live it self, I get that lag every so often also, and when I have a friend over to play, we both get booted out of the game and off xbox live entirely on occasion. Last night, it was 4 times that we had to completely turn our systems off and back on just to connect to xbox live again.

It maybe the COD 4 servers or it could also be interference from something in the room your playing in causing the wireless signal to drop and then ramp up again. I would suggest testing the connection more than once and with differnt things turned on. If the signal onaly seems to be an issue while playing COD4 and no other XBL games than it sounds like the servers are in need of an update again. This was an issue in the past.

COD4 is the only game that boots me completely off the game and servers. My friend and I are both hard wired in to my router when this happens, we I run my check connections on the system blade, it will show that everything is connected except xbox live, but for only a minute and then its all back up and running fine.

Rough,
I was responding to the other member not you sorry if I confused you.
I know COD 4 has issues at times. I just wanted to make sure that their issues is just COD 4 and nothing else since they have the router in another room and using wireless connection.
