Re: Help - strict nat

Try this for starters:

Steps for Opening a Netgear/Belkin/D-Link NAT:

Open your web browser (aka, this^)
Type in the address bar: 192.168.0.1 (http://192.168.0.1) Netgear Users: If this doesn't work, try 192.168.1.1 (http://192.168.1.1)
Newer D-Link routers may also have to try: 192.168.2.1
At the login window, type the router password

Netgear Users: Username: admin Password: password
Belkin Users: Username: admin Password: password (normally)
D-Link Users: Username: admin Password: (blank)

If you are still having problems getting in, try this link. (http://www.phenoelit-us.org/dpl/dpl.html)

Once you are in, browse the different tabs and look for UPnP
Once you find it, enable it
Save and test your XBL connection

Re: Help - strict nat

XBL is experincing some issues make sure that your not getting a false error message. I would wait until they resolve the issues on Live before changing things unless you know its really a strict Nat setting.

Re: Help - strict nat

Don't know about the problem happening every 2 months or so, but you should wait until the issues with XBL clear to check it's you and not them... They have been having issues for at least a couple of days, so it could explain what you are experiencing.

I've had an original Xbox since it released, was part of the Xbox Live Beta testing process and had a 360 since it released as well.

If you are talking about XBL issues, I have never had any with the exception of last year's fiasco when everyone got a free XBLA game to "compensate" for the issue.

If you are talking about console issues, I have been lucky enough and just had my first RROD a month ago, although, I am aware of others having this issue more often.

Not only that, I have been a member and saff member of this site for more than 5 years.

I assumed YOU were having issues every 2 months, and since I do not have issues every 2 months, it leaves to assume that it is something on your configuration.

I have to agree with Alpha on this. I just heard that the major issues with XBL are fixed and yes some of the issues are due to the testing and work to get the new NXE dash update out on time.

I would suggest you list your router, modem and the firmware version. I am going to guess already that its a firmware issue. Linksys has some decent modems but to get them to work with XBL can be a hassle and there are only a few firmware versions that work with XBL. If you are having trouble on and off then it has to be equipment releated and the first guess is the router. Sadly Linksys support is not like it used to be. I would check the version of the firmware and see if its listed at Xbox.com. If you can't find the information posted over there post it here and we will help you the best we can. You may also have a setting not correct but we should be able to get you working again since most of us on staff have owned a linksys router in the past.
