hey guys, im having smoe issues with my xbl connection. i get dissconected at lease 2 times every 2 hours i play. when i get disconnected i go to my computer and it dosent have internet connection ether. i have done all the port forwrording for the xbox also. i think it may be my frimware but i dont know how up grade it or "downgrade" it.

ISP: comcast
router : leased from comcast: CG814WG
Firmware Version: V3.9.26R05
Firmware Version i need: 2.94d02
connection to xb: wierless
connection to computer: wired

Somebody please help me before i spend $350 on geek squad and a new router.

I would call Comcast if your leasing the router from them they must have support on this? I know a few other gamers who had the same issue with Comcast's routers. They are the only ones who can give you the firmware you need. You would be better off buying a router made for gaming and then you have it with out a lease.

I'd say talk to comcast. My home router is a Linksys WRT54GS and sometimes out of no where my laptop gets booted off the internet, and won't reconnect for hours, while all other computers are fine.

Don't go to Geek Squad, they're a waste of money.

so are you saying i should try to get the right frimware and/ or get a new router.

o btw the router i have is a compatible router but the frimware isnt.

You have a modem too right? If it were me, I'd ditch leasing a router from your ISP, buy a reliable router like a Linksys, and stick with that.

But if you can call Comcast and see if they'll help you for free, I'd do that first.

If the firmware is not the right one then get Comcast to downgrade it. I think your going to find Comcast is not going to help you on this. You should just take back the router and buy one your paying each month for a router that is not working? Well atleast with Xbox live you can get a decent router and save the fee's.

ya i know that now but i just spent $300 on comcast to come out and install this crappy router so i could have xbl so i dont want to pay another $300 for them to come out and take the router back and reinstall a modem so i can then buy another $70 router. so what im trying to say is i want my xbl to work the way it is for atleast 4 more months when i will have enough $ to do that.

so but what u guys are saying is that i should call comcast (for the time beeing) and see if they will get my frimwear changed.

if they cant change it i will problably just have to live with it for a few more months.
