Greetings, Xbox® gamers and friends. The folks here at Xbox have been hard at work on all the cool new features coming your way with
Xbox 360™, and we're all very excited to bring you the results this holiday season. Along with the new console, we're rolling out a new version of Xbox.com with expansive coverage of the awesome games, peripherals, services, and more heading your way. As we bring the new Xbox.com to life, we unfortunately have to put the current
MSN Messenger and Xbox Live Alerts you've been receiving on hold. Don't be dismayed, though; the Alerts will make a comeback to join the huge list of
Xbox Live features in 2006!
Even though those cool Alerts are going on hiatus for a little while, we still have a host of other ways to keep you informed. Didn't think we'd let you crawl back under that rock with your Controller-S, did you?
Xbox.com Newsletters (and Other Cool Stuff)
Get yourself registered at Xbox.com and you can choose to receive regular newsletters highlighting the latest games, news, events, and more. We even include an exclusive game tip and a super-secret "for your eyes only" article with each issue. That's right, you get the hook-up with first-run strategy, previews, level guides, and more, and we won't fault you for bragging about it to your friends.
Registering also gives you exclusive access to certain articles on the site that we've reserved just for you, like walkthroughs, contests, and behind-the-scene interviews. The cost for all this gaming gravy? Nothing, nada, zip. We aim to please.
My Live … er, My Xbox
Those of you who've gone through the relatively painless process of
linking your Gamertag know the insider's playground that is the
My Live section of the site. You get your own portal into Xbox Live gaming goodness, complete with community hookups from our own
TriXie and
Major Nelson, a weekly calendar of events, and your personal Friends List so you can keep tabs on who's playing what, even when you're away from your Xbox. You also get access to the Xbox
Live Digital Magazine, a members-only publication filled with tips, tricks, exclusive interviews and offers, and more. What's not to love?
When the next version of Xbox.com launches this fall, the My
Live section will get a major upgrade as well as a new name: My Xbox. You'll get subscription-based access to your Friends List, the Xbox.com forums, and a number of other exclusive features we're keeping under wraps right at the moment. So
link that 'tag now and enjoy the My
Live section, but keep an eye out for what's ahead. It's a doozy.
Thanks for reading. Feel free to retreat to that rock now.
