Live and Wireless Encryption FYI

Picked up Links and PGR2 and have been at a standstill. XBox sees Live at the dashboard and within the game. But.... when I try to start a game I get about a minute or two in and I get punted!! Placed a call to XBox tech support and I have been waiting for a call back since Sat! Pretty frustrating.

Well, tonight I thought I would try something else with my wireless LAN. I have encryption turned on and thought, maybe...... So I went through and reconfigred my router and my bridge for no encryption. Bang. I'm off and running.

Anyone else using encryption successfully? What router are you using if you are?

I have a D-Link DI-713 w/ Linksys WET-11 bridges. Never given me problems in the past.

I am guessing this is because the Xbox's arent set to allow encryption or something. Since they would want to stream line the consoles they prolly removed certain routines from its abilities. I started to read your post and the first thing that popped in was that you needed to set a DMZ zone, but I guess you have a more cooperative router then most people

The Xbox will work on a network with encrytion . . .

Also note, 2 Xbox consoles cannot run through the same connection (MAC Address) at the same time as the security settings on the live access server will eventually mess it up by calling one of the connections invalid.

I have never used the wet11 but it supposed to work almost seamlessly... I have found however that the WGA11B is better and designed specifically for Xbox and PS2 gaming.

See an FAQ here: http://www.xboxfaq.com/features/wga1...nection-1.html

Yes, if you go to settings from the dashboard then to network (I'm assuming this option appears with any network adapter, not just the m$ one, so just ignore this if i'm wrong) you should see options for encryption and other advanced settings
