Exclamation Question for anyone who's had their Xbox (thomson drive) repaired...

Hey everyone. I'm a newbie on these forums, but I do have an urgent question for anyone who has had their Xbox sent in for repairs in the past. I know almost all of you are all aware of the Thomson drive which the early Xboxes were shipped with. Well, 2 years passed, and mine got to the point where most of my games were unusable (i'm sure you've heard this story before). Anyway, i sent in my Xbox for repairs about a week ago. I called up 1800-4MY-XBOX again just before to find out any updates on my xbox's repair. They told me they repaired it and shipped it back out to me a few days ago, and it should arrive soon.

...My question is, if any one of you have had their Xbox w/ a thomson drive repaired before, did it come back to you with a Samsung drive, or a Phillips?

I know Microsoft are denying the fact that the Thomson drive even exists (which is total BS as you all know), but I really hope that they replaced my drive with a Samsung one regardless. I would hate to have my Xbox returned to me with just a new Thomson drive, which is what I'm most afraid of happening.

So, if any of you have already had their thomson Xbox repaired before, just let me know if they changed your drive to samsung or phillips, or if they didnt. that would be a great help and relief! thanks in advance.

Howdy Salx22 ! Welcome to XBS!

Usually M$ WON"T change your dvd drive unless it's completely totaled. More often than not, they will clean & adjust it and send it back to you. If you're under a waranty, and you have sent your xbox in for repair three or more times, they WILL (if you request it) swap out your Thompson for another drive of their choice. Please note that this is subject to change at M$'s whim.

Read this Problems with your Xbox? Before you call... it may help. and, again Welcome to ! Hope you stay around!

Hey, in a miracle of god, my xbox came back WITH a brand new samsung drive, and i did not even request or mention this to them on the phone. im SO happy because it saved me a LOT of worrying! i guess they either were extra nice to me or they got their act together. either way, im VERY happy and i LOVE the samsung drive!
