Dirty Disc Error/XBOX Doesn't read my Game - PLEASE HELP! - Page 2

my parents bought me a new xbox last night so thats cool...... no more DDEs for me! yay!

btw EBgames said they would buy my defective xbox for $30... but I saw some on Ebay for $50....

I know this is an old thread but I just had my first encounter with the dreaded black screen, dirty disc error message. It was on a brand new copy of Burnout 3 (Takedown), so I called EA.

They said that in most cases what causes this is a corrupt save on your hard drive, in other words, he said to delete the saved profile and start again. Being that I had already put quite a few hours in this game I ask were there any other options.

He said I could change controllers, which sounds like B.S. to me but I did, and I deleted my sons profile since he had just a couple of races on it so far.

I played after that for a couple of hours and got no error but my fingers are still crossed, I'll keep you posted on this issue.

BTW, I have never had that message on any other game before and I have a Samsung drive in my x box so if it does it again I will probably take the game back and trade it for a new one. If this fails to do the trick then I guess I'll have to delete my profile and lose my progress which sux because I really love this game.

Sigh I hate when Xbox tech support or any one else gives this lame excuse. Don't delete your save file! They go through a book or script and yes at times this is the cause. If the disc is still doing it on a regular basis try and return the disc. I just don't think it's a saved file issue. The disc does lock up at times I never had a DRE message just had it freeze. Try another disc it can't hurt before deleting your saved file. Hope this helps you a bit?

Well, I didn't delete my profile but I did delete my son's as I said before. I have only gotten the message two times in about 10 hours of gameplay.

The good news is that I was just playing for about two hours and no glitches whatsoever, *crossing fingers*, so I am hoping all is well.

It did strike me funny how a saved file can be corrupt but IDK about that. He said as a last resort, being a gamer himself, delete the profile from the Hard Drive, not with the game in.

In any case I have a lifetime warranty where I bought the game so I will definately exchange the disc before I waste my progress. I also thought it strange that he said changing controllers could even make a difference. I have never had a dirty disc error like that before with any game so.... ..this is weird to say the least.

The good news is that if it ends up being a problem with my x box I have another year left on the 'Best Buy' warranty so there is no problem there. In fact, since the price has gone down I would stand to make $30 if it does go out. Gotta Love Best Buy.

try boiling the game. the march oxm demo disk gave me DDE every time i tried to play it. after i boiled it, it worked like a charm.

The boiling trick is great for demo's etc. He may as well just try a new copy with his coverage though. Less of a pain.

Yeah, good thought cup but this game is brand new, and I haven't gotten but 2 DDE's so far, and none since I deleted my son's saved file from the x box hard drive...*still crossing fingers*.

I do have a lifetime warranty where I bought it so I'm not too worried about it.

does it matter that the games new? i've never tried it on a regular game so i don't know if boiling works. i just know it does for demos

I've boiled demo and prerelease disks, if I get a disk that I bought and it's bad I take it back for a new one, why bother hassling around in the kitchen when i could be playing sooner.
