Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Xbox 360 RPG Preview
Game developer Bethesda is taking players back to the fantasy world with their upcoming Xbox 360 title Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. As the name implies this is going to be the fourth game in a well respected RPG series. The storyline in Oblivion revolves around the fate of the central city in this realm. The King has been assassinated by unknown individuals and because of his death the gates to Oblivion have been opened. The opening of these gates has allowed demons and other monsters to invade the kingdom. From this point players will begin their quest throughout the mystical kingdom. How gamers complete this journey is their own decision entirely. Rather than be forced through an endless line of quests to complete the story you can explore the entire realm anyway you please. To pass time and gain experience players can embark on a challenge quest given to them by characters in the game. Some of these challenges will have you hunting down thieves and bandits in the kingdom. If sorcery is more your style you can practice your magic and create potions as well. Players need to meet new characters in the game and make friends with them in order to be given more challenges to complete.

Elder Scrolls games have never traditionally looked good anyway, so even if Oblivion has graphics that aren't up to scratch regarding the expected Xbox 360 standards, the game is still most likely to rock...
The preview confirms this, and the history of Elder Scrolls games also indicates that awesome gameplay, variation, and longetivity are components that form the key core of the games, at the expense of graphics...

Anyhow, I'll be getting this!

But yeah, in a game like Oblivion, graphics and animations don't mean crap. It's all about the gameplay. Like what has already been mentioned, Morrowind had horrible graphics and animation (compared to other games) yet honestly that is the game that I have probably played the most out of all my Xbox games. It was just that addicting!

have you seen the 20minute ingame video? its on torrentspy... in dvd (over a gig) and avi (120megs).. it is not crappy... the game will be FULLY OPEN and realistic... the ai are given goals, and a logic, but not a set path... if there is more than one logical way to go about something.. and you watch the same thing enough times... i think 2-4 times.. it will be different... also you get good at what you do.. not what you choose like other rpgs... the ai is realistic, the leveling is realistic, the graphics are realistic, the whole game is. what more can you ask for, online play is its only flaw as there is none.. but a game like this... wont be seen as an mmorpg for a while

And to be honest, I'd much rather Oblivion have those above-mentioned things than superb graphics...
Sacrifice graphics in the name of gameplay?... Damn straight!
