Xbox 360, November 25th Speculation

Three seperate US retailers reported to IGN today that the XBox 360 will be released “as late as Friday” November 25, 2005 (the day after Thanksgiving). It is mentioned that the retailers recieved an e-mail from Microsoft this past Monday mentioning the date will be the 25th for the hardware and that the launch titles would be shipping November 22. Despite contact from IGN, MS declines to verify this release date, so it still isn’t official. - Blackshear

Think this could be true. MS is always changing their statements on things like the controllers if they would require batteries, or if they'd be rechargable or what. So it could turn out to be true in 2-3 weeks or so.

I'm thinking the 15th, having it hit shelves before Black Friday will create more sales, as well as the fact that the 15th is the Xbox Live anniversary and most launch titles have the 15th tagged as their release date in many retailers. Of course, everything is subject to change.

I have to agree with Jason for two reasons. The 1st is Microsoft always does something special for the anniversary of XBL and also Xbox system launch was the 7th or the 8th can't remember without looking. The 2nd and perhaps the biggest reason it won't be on Black Friday is simple Retailers have a hard enough time as it is. Now throw in a launch of the 360 and you have one huge headache. Also time consuming looking up pre-orders getting stock etc. It makes no sense at all. Last year the rumor was Halo 2 was to be in stores on Black Friday and we all know how that went. I think the date will be either the 8th or the 15th but no later than that. If it is as much as I want my 360 I am not going out in the crowded malls to pick it up. Also it makes no sense as far as companies taking orders on the web as well. Just does not add up when you look at all the factors.

Black Friday is awsome, me and the wife love to get out in it, its the real kick off to the holidays not to mention the cool sales, but I am inclined to side with Jason on this also.

Alright since I'm only 15 and have no clue about strange days like Black Friday can someone refresh my memory of what it is?

Black Friday is the Day after Thanksgiving and is the biggest Holiday shopping day in the US and in Canada. This is where stores open at 6:00 AM some that is and people go in flocks and spend money. It is fun but after being on the other end in retail for a few of them. It's not a great day it is long and people get pushy. Of course some like going out every year and it's a sort of a tradition.

I know I am leaving out the Black part. I think the term has a double meaning but for stores they find themselves in the black after a huge Black friday meaning they made a profit. Most stores count on a great Black Friday to keep up with other stores etc. There is another meaning for the day I will look it up later.

this is for the uninitiated, the best sales of the year happen the day after Thanksgiving.

For example: Fry's electronics had a sale last year of progressive scan dvd players for $25 first come first serve style, there were 60 people standing in line outside the store at 5 a.m. the store opened at 7 a.m.

there were other great sales but that was the one I was after, needless to say they sold out of those as soon as the door opened.

you have to get prepared for this day by, working out, you have to be in fine physical shape to be able to push fatasss moms out of the way.

by a small tazer, nothing works better to get a crowd moving the shocking a chain of upper middleclass moms in front of you.

get up and get out early.

drink lots of coffee or an energy drink of your choice.

DO NOT wear sweaters or thick coats, this will only make you very hot and sweaty when you get inside, remember there will be thousands of stoopids in the mall or stores that day and thats a lot of body heat.

Learn how to negotiate traffic, lines and the parking lot, it will be complete and utter chaos. If you can cut someone off for a parking spot thats in the same county of the mall or store your at, then make no apologys. they would do it to you and laugh while they walked away.

don't be shy about grabbing a product in front of someone who is looking at it, because chances are, if you want it and you blink, it will be gone.

rules of behavior are all out the window on this day folks, there is no such thing as politeness or courtesy on this day of days.

One last thing, Please Please respect the clerks, they are doing their best just to keep up on this day and the last thing they need is for customers to give them attitude over something THEY have no control over.

As for you working at a retailer and not gettin an email, it's probably cuz it's not fully confirmed due to Microsoft's ability to confirm then unconfirm things. Within the next two weeks this will probably be cleared up.
