I wasn't planning on getting this game, wasn't a big fan of the WW2 CoD series but Modern Warfare is a big change and one that works! Story line is in-depth and really makes you care, the graphics are stunning, and I loved that your AI team mates are actually smart, you can depend on them to cover you and vica versa - game play is just great, and the in game dialogue/sounds really makes you feel like your in the game. CoD 4 is intense, edge of your seat stuff! as far as single players goes - its one of the best I've played. I'm yet to find a flaw with it, but i'm sure some reviewers will!! now for some veteran....

They did many things right, but a couple of things are annoying me to the point I got frustrated and stopped playing.
First is the friendly AI. GET OUT OF THE ****ING WAY!!! They take the prize for most annoying AI team this year!
Second, the gameplay is not intuitive at all. I always found myself at thw wrong place, or shooting from the a place whe my team had moved on, etc. Yes, I know there's a checkpoint marker, but still.
Finally, I never know what I am shooting at. The friendly indicator is not obvious enough and sometimes, I wasn't even able to SEE the enemies.
I had forgotten a couple of controls from the beta and they forgot to add those directions on the game, or they went by so fast on the screen that I missed it. Perfect example is when I had to switch to my sniper rifle, it took me like a minute to switch to it.
Those are only my pet peeves and MY opinions. As I said, the game did add a whole cinematic effect that I like a lot, and the music is very nice as well. But these couple of peeves may make me forget about the single player campaign at all... specially with gaming time being so scarce lately.

Also with the check points and objectives - worked for me, I can see where people could get confused but I have a habit of turning on subtitles so I was able to read what needed to be done, and the checkpoint direction points take some time to get used too, but once you understand it its pretty stright forward. its just fun to play! veterans quite tricky on some missions

After going to Best Buy, Walmart, Gamestop, and Target (all of which were sold out) I found myself back at best buy. Appearently they couldn't find their shipment of the games but eventually found it so there were plenty upon my return.
So far I'm about 8 missions into the single player game on regular (I'm terrible at these games). So far I love it. It's really intense and gets you really into the action. I like the variety in the missions (breaching buildings, protecting tanks, that airplane one, sniping, etc.) and it adds a lot to the experience. I'll probably be playing single player more today if I finish my paper but probably won't be online until wednesday or thursday (school tomorrow )
another thing, the sound is amazing in this game. This is probably the best 5.1 game I've played in a long time (possibly ever). Anyway, just my 2 cents.

It just sounds like you were tired and a bit impatient. Anyway get rested up and join us for some Multilayer. | |
