PS3 To Fire The First Shot? (Price War)

According to retail managers and a new Circuit City Flyer the PS3 is going to start selling at 499.99. While rumors are flying about the date July 17th is the latest. It seems flyers are already printed up with the Grillstation on the front page with the price of 499.99. Yes, it's still a huge runor but it looks legit and would fit with E3 as well. A price War just might be good for both consoles now with MS announcing their new extended warranty.

Of course until we get word it needs to be taken with a grain of salt. It still would make things interesting for the Christmas season.

Joystiq has found Target selling them for $499 today, various stores around the country.

MS may counter sony's price drop with a $50 price drop but I don't think much m,ore then that.

lol, this very well may be hype, but i find it kind of funny that you immediately turn this down. You've never said anything wrong before? Man, i wish i was you.

-But seriously, it could be hype, but i hope not..MS needs to prove they are willing to do this to help in the console war. Yes, i know the 1.15 billion dollar hit they are taking from extending the warranty to 3 years helps, but its their own fault the consoles are breaking.

I agree with you read my comments on the front page. I think I made it pretty clear I was hoping for a price drop. I turned it down as someone trying to get hits on their site and not posting as a rumor but as news.

So after watching G4's coverage the past 3 days, they brought up a good point about MS, those really are in a tough situation right now, they are going to take a 1.5 billion hit so can they really afford to also drop the price of the console? I think they can if its done with a $50 price point. I am already saving for the Halo edition.

true, but if any company could take yet another hit..its MS. lol, they shelled out over 50 mil (supposedly) just to get some extra content for GTA4.
