Re: True Fantasy Resurrected?

WoW isn't the only MMORPG that has new content available for download frequently. The only thing is that most of WoW's "new content" is really just patches and rebalancing of characters. The only thing that I recall that is a drastic change in WoW is the stadium. Anyway I don't believe that WoW is going to steal any of the fanbase for TFLO since console owners are normally people who don't have computers fit for gaming.

Totally wrong. The last patch introduced the "honor system", which rewards players for there honorable or dishonorable actions during PvP combat. With high honor comes all sorts of new weapons, equipment, and epic mounts for players to use in questing and combat.

The next patch will introduce the "Battlegrounds". This will be epic Horde vs. The Alliance combat in a specially designated valley the does not yet exist on the servers. Once again special rewards different from those of the "honor system" will be available for those that excel in this combat.

Blizzard is not just patching bug fixes like most of the other mmorpg companies out there *cough Matrix online cough*, they are actually bringing new content to all of there users every couple of weeks. They also put special holiday specific quests in game during those weeks of the month, such as Valentines Day, Easter, etc. The first week of May was "give back to the orphans of Azeroth" week, and everyone could be a big brother to an unfortunate child of war.

Re: True Fantasy Resurrected?

First of all the "honor system" has been promissed by Blizzard since the launch of the game, but it has taken them up until the last patch to implement it. Besides, said honor system doesn't make much sense to me. For example, yesterday I watched friend's level 21 hunter get ganked by two higher level rogues. Once he resurrected himself, they killed him again....and again....and again and since they weren't too much higher of a level than he was, they were gaining so called "honorable kills". Sounds like a good idea, but since not everyone is a good sport, it is more of a reason to gank other players.
The "Battlegrounds" patch doesn't seem like much fun to me. All those people running around in a Blizzard server is just begging for lag.
About Blizzard not coming out with patches for their game. What took them so long to balance out the classes? I mean they released the game with Paladins being super powerful and didn't even notice. Isn't that the point of beta testing? I guess they must have not been paying attention to it. Anyway, other games have such things as special theme days. WoW isn't really coming up with original ideas here, it was even done with PSO for Xbox. Blizzard isn't really thinking outside of the box with this game, they are just making the box better.

Re: True Fantasy Resurrected?

mmm, Blizzard bashing. Just now you'll negate the fact that it's (World of Warcraft) the fastest selling PC game of all time. Or that Starcraft is one of the most beloved games of almost any player that likes the RTS genre.

Blizzard know what they're doing, they just took a while to recover from outpacing themselves at launch. Now that the game is a little over six months into its lifespan things are really smoothing out. I prefer WoW to other MMORPGs that I've played for some very simple reasons: you don't need to be in a group constantly to succeed, you don't need to have ub3r 1337 equipment and you don't need to farm/grind. It eliminates the need for some of the MMORPG conventions (grouping, in particular is a big one to be able to check at the door. Most people, everywhere, are morons. I deal with enough asshats in the real world, I don't have time for them in a videogame. I like the fact that I can hang around and level up on my own while I wait for people who I don't find painful to party with to be online.) That was the number one reason I disliked FFXI: People are asshats. ((I also play on a roleplaying server, which gets me away from most of the l33tsp33k3r5 and cheaters/farmers/botters etc.))

To address specific concerns. If you're worried about being ganked, don't play on a PvP server, play on a carebear or roleplaying server. Also, the honor system has diminishing returns to prevent corpse camping. The second or third time you kill someone with no other characters inbetween you start receiving zero contibution points per kill. The paladin being overpowered was simply a mathematical error that was corrected via hotfix the moment it was noticed.

In addition Battlegrounds are going to be cool. Damn cool. The WoW website has some very good previews for the two battlegrounds that will be available.

I'm happy with my final choice in MMORPG, but to each their own. The minimal loading times, soloability and relativly decent community in WoW make it a big winner for me. Can we get back to whether TFLO is actually coming out on XBOX, please?

Re: True Fantasy Resurrected?

I really don't care if TFLO is a little outdated by now an MMORPG on Xbox would still be awesome.

I even played PSO as recently as January, and that game is a piece of crap, as long as TFLO is better, I'll be happy.

I actually already answered that question on the first page of this thread. Maybe you shouldn't have jumped in mid argument?
