to my knowledge the sith had never ruled the galaxy until Palpatines New Order. there was a sith empire at one time that attempted to topple the republic when they encountered one another,,they attacked the republic openly and were defeated, both by the jedi and by themselves, as the sith have a nasty habit of turning on one another, which is showed both in the KotoR series and is mentioned allot in the books. After the sith were defeated it was a long time before they were encountered again, this time with a former Jedi by the name of Exar Kun as the head of the empire, he learned his powers from the temples on Yavin 4, which were built by the sith a long time ago, but his army was routed by the jedi again, again because they kept back blading themselves while fighting the republic..after this war is Darth Bane started his new system of master and apprentice, to help cut back on the sith bringing themselves down, and around a thousand or so years after this the sith finally toppled the republic *palpatine and vader*,,but couldn't hold it together for very long after that.

the only other mention I've ever seen of the jedi order being destroyed prior to the Star Wars movies are in the KoToR series, which is I why I have hard figuring out exactly when this happened in the star wars time line, other than that it was 4000 years before the movies took place.

Perhaps KOTOR III will tell the story of how the Jedi order is rebuilt....

Ahh, endless possibilities for storyline speculation for a game that hasn't even been announced.

i guess i misinterpreted when the one guy in the movie.. the black jedi master, said that he wouldnt allow the oppression of the sith to happen again(something along those lines).. and im too tired to look up his character name... or his real name that i cant recall at this time... but yea.. the reason i dont try to understand star wars is that all the summaries on the web apparently lie... and there are too many books for my liking... i like reading.. but not with all the weird star wars names... so many.. so odd

it was Mace Windu that said that, and now that you mention I do recall it, I assumed he refered to Exar Kuns attempt to conquer the galaxy, but went back and re-read the novel of EP III and found that line, but there was nothing that elaborated on what he was refering to.

as for the star wars books, most of them are very good until after the Jedi Academy trilogy,,then it really starts to sound like Star Trek with different characters

but the Hand of Thrawn Trilogy really straightened things out, and all of the New Jedi Order series are very good..also the X-wing series as great, but some of the other side stream novels are kinda wierd

ya mace windu thats it.. the black jedi master.. woot.. ya what do you guys think about a star wars tv show.... im worried that its gonna just destroy the star wars experience... i mean i cant imagine it being done justice in episodic form...

i'm not sure about the TV show,,will probably be entertaining but I really don't want to see star wars reduced to a soap opera or something like that god awful Power Rangers show a few years ago

but as little as I watch TV, I doubt I'll ever get to see it any ways.

The Clone Wars explained more into the story and was just a good show to watch. Yea I'm 15 but it's still entertaining. I love animes and some **** that CN airs

Clone Wars was a very good cartoon, and I'm not an anime fan lol. no the new tv series is giong to be live action, and is supposed to continue the story after RoTS, I've heard rumors about it explaining out what happens to Boba Fett and how he came to have his reputation in the original movies. i dunno, i just have a bad feeling about it
