I wasn't sure if i should put this in the upcoming games or the RPG lounge...because the beta is going on now. But anyways, if it needs to be moved thats ok.
I was just wondering if anyone has signed up for it or is going to. Incase you don;t know, the beta started on the 6th and you can sign up HERE. You need the demo disc in the OXM Febuary issue, which i dont; think is out yet...  .
From what i read, ive found you can use a USB Mouse and Keyboard to play on the 360, and when the full version comes out in May, you will be able to hook up with people on the PC and PS2 servers.

I was interested at first, but after reading reports of an hour to install the Playonline software, followed by a further hour of downloadable updates I decided not to bother.
I'm sure FF XI is a good game, but the 360 needs [I]new[I] games instead of relying on the past. If Microsoft nad Level 5 would resurrect True Fantasy Live Online then a whole new audience would be grabbed.

I hope the real version is not screwed up. | |

ya there is a free beta with this months xbox magazine./.. someone join it with me who knows how to play... i have already spent the 3 hours to set it up.... im not joking... its like 2 hours of installing **** to play... but i stopped playing because i was just running around endlessly with NO ONE helping me and no idea what i was doing or where i could find **** to killl... so help

i can vouch for the install of over two hours.... and the game looks like a ps2 game on a 360s gpu... the textures make me wanna cry they look so bad... the only thing even slightly nextgen is the character model which looks ok but the texturing is still weak and the lighting is a joke... the surround sound is also very unimpressive and wtf is with the high pitched tick when you run... it sounds like you're wearing annoying tapshoes... not just regular ones.. but uber annoying tinny sounding tap shoes.... i cant comment on gameplay since i cant figure out where the hell i need to go to kill something.... so after running around for 20 minutes not knowing a goal or getting any help.... and i begged.... i wanna see what my microwave has to say to this disc... but if anyone suffers through the install please bring me with you so you can show me wtf im supposed to do in this game... but if this is an rpg with crafting... screw that... im not gonna sit there on my 360 and craft... when i can just break into a trade center at night in oblivion

As big of a FF fan I am, this Beta isn't worth the 2 hour wait. At least not yet. Maybe after more people get it, it could be come as fun as it's PC and PS2 counter parts; it's only been out for a couple of days. I also thought the 360 version was supposed to have updated graphics, but personally I still think it looks better on my friends PC. I also think TFLO would've made a better MMORPG for the 360.
...here's to hoping the final product is a lot better.
