I recently tried asking for help on Gamebattles.com but I didn't find anything that solved my problem

Need some internet help, tired of getting dropped out of matches - GameBattles Forums

Here's my problem:

During normal times of the day, morning, afternoon, evening, I am getting lag and getting dropped from matches in the middle of them.

This is a problem for me because I like to compete on gamebattles for fun, but now my teams are threatening to drop me from the roster because I keep dropping in the middle of matches.

My connection used to be 100% fine at any time of the day until last Friday (June 26th)

If I keep testing it throughout the day, sometimes it is at 20 mb/s download speed and then the next test is around 6, then 6 a few times, then 20 again.

This describes the behavior of my connection in-game. I am playing normally (20 mb/s) then it goes to 6 mb/s, I get dropped from the match and then my internet is fine 2 seconds later.

Sorry for the length of my post, but I really need to fix this problem, whatever it may be.

I am willing to change my ISP if I have to or anything really.

I have opened my NATs using the xbox live ports etc etc

Does anyone have any ideas?

you may want to try calling your ISP and have them check your main line. During the day and early night hours you will notice a drop in speed. However you may need a filter or a new line to prevent this. If they check your line and can't see any signal drop you may need to try a different router or firmware. hope this helps to get to the issue.

Hope it helps keep in mind you have Comcast and they are not known for great service. Many Comcast customers have had issues like this but hopefully they will check the line it seems there is a drastic drop let us know if they helped you out.

Well I talked to them on a live chat and they said they reset my modem or something on their end of the connection, and then told me to go reset the power on all my stuff in a certain order

I did all that, and so far so good. But I did it at 10-11 pm and its 2 am now, so hopefully it will be good at 2-8 pm as well

Worse case is I'll switch to road runner or something like you have

I don't care about super high speed, just want a constant static mb/s that doesn't go up an down like a rollercoaster

It's all about the usage. You're on a shared connection with your neighbors, possibly your whole block, or more. In the evening is when the most people are online (home from work) and so usage is up, and speeds are down. At 2:30am, no one's online, so you fly. If you still experience the problem, it likely won't be resolved by them. They say things like "up to 15mbps" but not guaranteed. The only real solution would be to buy a dedicated line that's not shared with your neighbors. Expect something like that to cost well over what normal connections cost, think up to 10x it.

Yeah it sounds like they don't have enough bandwidth for your area at peak times... Keep in mind that for most casual Internet users your low speeds would be acceptable. For a gamer dips like this cause problems. Check for alternate providers if you don't see a consistent improvement.
