The problem I have now is this.

I have some bad news for you.
Each saved file is attached to the gamer tag on the Xbox 360. Unless you take your profile along and log on with that account if possible it was confusing if that gamer tag is still active or not then you will have restrat from the beging of the game.
Unless the JACK O BOX is still paid for then it is simple copy the gamer profile to a memory card it will remove it from that 360 hard drive and cannot be replaced until you move it back to the memory card and back on the Hard Drive. MS decided to do this with everything game on the 360 maybe to prevent people from taking a saved file and getting help or hacking it? Sorry but from everything you said unless you still have that profile there is no other option for you. I hope this helps explain why its asking for that gamer tag?

Ive been reading this site for awhile, but didnt want to post till I got my 360, and then got it running.

I have 2 questions to ask you, the experts, about this profile problem.

1. I started with a profile with out live. Played several games buil up some history. I got my live set up and I discover I lost my old profile and all my saved games. Any way to get it back?

2. How is saved files being linked to profiles going to affect action replay for the 360. Is it tru you cant download files off the internet at all?

this really disturbs me. I fail to understand why MS would do this. To me the whole point of the danm 360 is that it is more like a computer than anyother system. I am upset that I probably wont be able to download rosters for games like ncaa footbal.

The answer to the first question is no. Sorry but not that I know of.
As far as downloads no one ever said there was not going to be a replay device but I can tell you if there is it will be diiferent. And you can dl rosters on Live so I am confused by that statement. I think MS had good reason for making the changes they did other than that you would need to ask MS for that info hope that helps?

I am only assuming that I wont be able to download files off of websites. Now that I realize what this profile thing is I think I understand what MS is doing. I am afraid MS is going to charge for everything. And I will have to download their stuff because anything I download on my own will not work because its not associated with my profile.

I am not a MS hater. I just think that my xbox is my property and if I want to copy my freinds save game thats my danm buisness. I hope I am wrong about where this is headed. I am worried they are going to try to nickle and dime me to death.

Loosing saved games because you sign up for live is also ridiculas IMO. I would think it would discourage people who have had the 360 for a long time from staring up a live account. I hope they fix that, I imagine some peopl ecould get very upset.

really,,call MS about the saved games thing...as far as the using AR to download other peoples saved games...thats fine by me and just about everyone else,,but thats not all it is used for, it was one of the main tools for cheating on allot of a games, so I say good riddance to the that damned program.

re AR-I never used it to "cheat" mostly draft classes and named rosters for NCAA. The other thing its nice for is this. I dont have time to try to unlock every aspect of the game. I enjoyed being able to download a file that unlocks the game so I can have full accses to the game I paid for, without having to spend hours to try to unlock every car whatever in the game.

As far as cheating, how were people using it to cheat? I assume you are talking about cheating online. Because if the guy down the street wants to "cheat" on his personal XBOX unit, I dont understand how that affects you or I.

Im not attached to AR, I just enjoyed the convinance it provided to downloading files.

so without a AR, how would one download a file onto their xbox, and considering the profile delema how would I trick the XBOX into reading the file.

I am opperating wirelessly, but I have not set up windows media centerr yet. Any tips on that or any opinion on if games saves can be transfered over media center?

yes, i'm refering to cheating online, lemme ask you this,,what do you think the easiest way to move modified files onto your xbox was? with a program that was designed to transer files from from your computer to your xbox. DUH.

and I just gotta ask,,why do you buy a game if you don't want to take the time to unlock stuff on it? the reason they put all that nifty stuff in there is so you will spend more time playing the game you just bought, thus getting more bang for your buck.what the hell is the fun in letting someone else do it for you anyway??

Besides, if you just wanna get saved files from your friends, you wouldn't need AR, you wanna d/l game saves off the internet. period. Now. consider this, MS came up with this nifty lil Gamer Card , gamer score, and achievement system...achievements that are generally tied into unlocking secrets in a game..a program like AR for the 360 will blow that entire system out of the water and let people get all the achievements for every game out there

I'll stick with my original opinion, good riddance to Action replay.

I think as I get older I look at games different.

I get about 1 to 2 gaming hours a day if I am lucky. Most the time I play sports games. But for a change up I'll mix in something else. My gaming window opens and closes quickly. I dont have time to mess around.



Take need for speed for example. the career mode is basically the race over and over, it just keeps getting harder. Some games are not good enough to warrent the time it takes to unlock every item. . Yea they give you the motivation of playing the game to try to unlock everything. But my time is more valuable than a stupid fake body kit in a game. The stuff isnt real, I dont get a real sense of value. Especially considering how easily a save can be corrupted or lost (see thread topic), when that happens your left holding the bag and that burns my ***. Yea some games I like to go through still and beat the single player mode. But some games I like to be able to just sit down and enjoy the entire game without spending real hours to unlock imaginary items. I hate to have it sound like this but, basically I feel like I payed for the game. So sometimes I dont feel like I should have to jump through a bunch of hoops to gain accses to what I payed for.

And as far as the concern of people cheating. I understand it must mess with online rankings, and I undrstand if you put that much time into something it really becomes a point of pride. But I dont think that ment MS had to put a padlock on MY non cheating XBOX.

Why do I need punished because some punk kid has nothing better to do than cheat. Punish him, MS should ban cheaters from live. To be honest I stay offline a lot because it is hard to get a good game sometimes. There are a lot of morons out there.

I understand your feelings but I cant beleive you all hate AR so much. I thought it was one of the collest toys I have ever bought.

The AR unit was a great idea but like most it was used to cheat and ruin the gaming experince not as an enhancement as advertised. MS is not padlocking you you buy a game you play it and beat it. I don't really see why any one needs the replay unit. Yes in some cases to get a file that was corrupt then yes. The problem is it is not just used for this. No one ever siad they hated it but it has caused some issues. If they have something like it for the 360 I hope it will be used as that and only that an aid not a cheat and tons use it as that.

as far as feeling punished maybe you relied on the AR too much and not your gaming skills?
