Has anybody else had a problem playing Links 2004? I have had three different, brand new copies of Links and I still can't play the game!

Everytime I put Links into my X Box the game starts to load, the first screen pops up (it says 'Links 2004' and has the game credits below). Right after this screen an error screen appears saying the X Box can't read the disk because it is dirty or damaged. Only one problem with this: every copy of Links I have had has been band new, not a single scratch on it! Another strange occurance is that the error screen is a Links error screen! If the console can't read the disk, why is the error screen a Links 2004 error screen being read from the disk (not to mention a save file is created on the hard drive for Links). One more point to note: this is the only disc (X Box games, CDs and DVDs) that my console has not been able to read (never ever had an error message before this one).

I am very worried, as this is my second X Box (the lense on my first one stopped reading discs). I rented Price of Persia (which was released after Links I do believe) and it worked just fine. I am inclined to believe this problem may be with just XSN games.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. If anyone can fix this problem I will indebt to you for the rest of my life!

if it's just the one game it's probably just a scratched disc. go here and see what kind of drive your xbox has, if it's a thompson then the problem might be with your xbox.

What kind of DVD drive your xbox has?

I had the same problem with 'Enter the matrix' my xbox wouldnt play it - I replaced the disk atleast 4 times - all 4 times the game stalled in the same place, i gave up in the end when I discovered I had a thomson drive.

I've also got Links and not had any problems with it, I would say the problems with your xbox not the game type itself - what type of xbox drive do you hav? if your not sure check out this link

My drive looks like neither of those two (must be a Samsung). My console is pretty new. I bought it in the summer, in July to be exact. My first console was a Thomson, that is why it died. This is the first and only problem I have had with my new X Box, and it is very strange.

I think it has to do with Links, I'm on my second Links disc and every once in a while I still get that error. Before that, i had only gotten it once with GRIT and it was about a year ago.

Now it's staring to do it with PGR 2 too (only twice), which kinda worries me.

I finally broke down & bought Links. My only problem (So far) is the game will freeze occasionally when switching between players (maybe I press the button too fast.) Anyway, if you don't have it....

Just rented Project Gotham Racing 2. Had zero problems with that game. Seems to be a problem with either Links or XSN Sports. Let everyone know if other XSN Sports get the same error.
