| Beating a complex Vampirism Cure based glitch. I had been playing Oblivion and managed to get a loop started that would not stop. For those who have had the same problem I have learned how to beat the glitch.
I started the vampirism cure quest and as well had the quests for the mages guild and the vampire hunters quests all going at the same time and all to the point where you need to speak to the count. Unfortuantely the elusive count of skingrad requires you talk to his argonian first to acquire his presence. Somehow in the tandem running of these quests, the argonian became confused and began to tell me something to the regard of "Wait here the count will be with you shortly." Instead of getting the count however, she just stands around and the count never comes. So how do you find the count?
Granted, I happened upon the solution by thought and chance so some of these steps may not be necessary but doing it exactly as I mention it DOES work.
What you need:
1. A weapon (preferably an axe that you dont ever want to see again).
2. Complete the thieves guild quest and have the gray fox's Cowl.
3. Have either a way to become invisible or have 100% Camoflauge.
4. Have a decent jumping skill.
5. Complete the main quest up to the "Help for Bruma" leaving Skingrad the only one not complete.
What to do:
1. Walk up to the Captain of the guard for Skingrad, put on your Gray fox's Cowl and speak to the captain. He will freak out and try to kill you.
2. go invisible or 100% camo.
3. run outside the building to where you can see a ledge at the top of some stairs next to a fairly low roofline over the door. Hop on the ledge and onto the roof.
4. Pull up your map with the "help for bruma" being your active quest. You will see a red arrow in a discolored square that appears off the castle map. (technically it is located down in the tunnel you would normally go for the vampire cure quest). Hop up onto the roof line nearest to the space where the red arrow shows up off the map. creep to the edge of that roof (it will look like blank blue screen) and look down where the arrow should be at.
5. Looking down you will see the mapping for the tunnel seemingly floating in empty space. carefully drop onto the tunnel from above.
6. Technically you will be standing on the "roof" of the tunnel and not actually be IN the tunnel. Walk to the far end where you can see a door.
7. Crouch down and on the edge, CAREFULLY put your cursor on the top of the door and you will be able to open it and enter the chamber below where the count is.
8. When inside, quickly run to the count and drop your axe.
9. Talk to the count and clear up all he will talk to you about.
10. You won't likely be able to free all your quests JUST YET. You also can't currently get out of the tunnel as the stone wall is still closed and are now trapped.... bear with me.
11. The captain of the guard will somehow walk through the stone wall in the castle and come running down the hall after you. Take off the Cowl making your bounty go back to 0. The captain will attack you anyway. The count will pick up the weapon you dropped and come to your aid. Go invisible/camo again and let the count kill the captain of the guard. The count is unkillable so he may go unconcious a few times but will win in the end.
12. When the captain of the guard dies, another nameless guard will pass through the wall to check the body. When he does, punch him in the face. He will arrest you for simple assault and take you out to the prison.
13. Either serve the time or use the lockpick you saved if available to get out of prison. Collect your equipment and go speak to the count's argonian. She will be out of her infinite loop and you can talk to her about the vampirism cure. She will then go and open the stone wall to the tunnel so that you may now access the count for all your quest needs.
14. Comical side-note. When the count returns to the castle the first time, all the armed guards will attack him for being the murderer of the captain of the guard. Watch the battle for kicks and when the count has killed all the guards or when the guards have knocked the count unconcious all will return to normal. |
