oh yeah...there is lots of dust in all houses, from skin dander, pet dander, carpet, furniture, you name it, Running a lens cleaner should be done on anything including your DVD player at least once a week.

Also you should look in to putting a cooling fan on the back of your 360 to draw that heat out.
My 360 lays horizontal and I put about 3 empty game cases on the bottom to elevate it, I also have a cooling fan attached to the back. pelican makes a good one. You should lay your 360 down and not upright, try that and see how well you game plays, I know that the 360 tends to scratch discs when they stand upright.
